Introduction

Shenzhen CR City (Dachong Village Urban Renewal) is a pioneering project of CAPOL in the field of large-scale comprehensive urban renewal.

Since 2007, as the planer, designer and general coordinator, CAPOL has been responsible for the scheme design of Dachong Commercial Center, relocation housing, trasitional housing area, Dachong hotel and Runfu (Phase I, II & III), and has also participated in the design work of MixC World and Runxi.

The renovation strategy makes full use of the project's geological advantages, brings forward the spatial memory, and gives it new connotations; at the same time, through the multifunctional combination, the building of the residential environment and the connection of public spaces, it reshapes a new city block with great spatial quality, reproducing the diversity, harmony and vitality of the city.

The strategy of connected urban spaces has guided overall planning throughout the design process. Different street scales such as the high streets, parkways, and boulevards. These road networks link open space, important plazas, and the landmark tower. In addition, sunken plazas, green space, and ground corridors are open to the public, promoting community interaction.

During the 14-year renovation process, CAPOL has witnessed the renovation of Shenzhen and the transition of a better life from the Dachong village to Shenzhen CR City, from the largest urban renewal project in Shenzhen and even the whole country to the premier urban humanity complex.

MixC World has pioneered the use of a "block + mall" space form by organically combining commerce with public space system to create a "creative urban pedestrian space" integrating humanities, arts, and commercial characteristics into one.

Based on the historical remains of Dachong Village, an inverted U-shaped pedestrian system is designed as a spatial sequence for the organic connection of ancient remains and new buildings, such as the temple, the ancestral temple, the Dachong stone, the pond, and five big banyan trees.
